Annual Report 2023-2024
To learn more about last year’s accomplishments, read our Annual Report for 2023-2024 below:
Treasurer’s Report For the Year Ended Sept 30, 2025
Revenues exceeded expenses from operations by about $2,300. This is compared to a budgeted deficit of approximately $700. Total revenues were in line with budgeted amounts, as an increase in membership dues offset the decline in revenues from the elimination of the 50/50 draw.
The main reason for the surplus vs. the budgeted deficit is the reduced meeting expenses. This was primarily due to the elimination of the coffee and pastries expense in October, as a dinner meeting was held instead. Also, there was a two month HST holiday, and in addition, there was a reduction in coffee and pastry servings for the last three months. Lower administration costs and the absence of a management appreciation party, also contributed to the surplus.
For the upcoming year, a decline in budgeted revenues of about $800 is primarily due to lower membership and GIC revenues. Prior year membership revenues included dues from three deceased and two members that resigned.
Expenses are forecast to increase by about $2,300 primarily due to higher meeting expenses, higher Probus Canada dues, higher activity & admin costs, and costs for the first Management appreciation activity in three years.
The cumulative surplus as at September 30, 2025 is $27,531.

The Probus Club of Kingsway-Islington new board was elected by membership at the AGM on Monday, November 24. We greeted five new members of the board. Stephanie Grattan was traveling but we expect to see her soon and introduce her. Thanks was extended to Victor Fornasier for stepping up as President last year; to Tim Sulisz for his many roles and his help in our transition and also to Donna Cansfield for running a seven minute AGM!
Thank you all for stepping up; volunteerism is our heart and soul. Our board, along with the Club Co-ordintors and a variety of volunteers manage the club and create the program for all members.
Welcome to 36 new members who are invited to our New Members gathering on Tuesday January 13. Watch for the invitation. Thanks so much to Diane Gilles for contacting and registering this wonderful groupand staying on top of our waitlist of 115 perspective members.
Financials are in good order thanks to Brian Soares.
Our speakers program, clubs, special events and social events are thriving. All members are encouraged to attend. Your particiption is the measure of our success.
