How To Pay Membership Fees Using INTERAC e-Transfers

The exact on-line banking screens, terminology and sequence of steps with depend on which Bank your account is with.  The screens are very similar and the description immediately below is for a bank account with RBC. Procedures for CIBC are at the bottom of this page.

RBC Procedures

Steps:

  1. Sign on to your Bank Account.

2. Add an INTERAC e-Transfer Recipient.  On RBC this screen is an option under Payee Management.

The NAME of the Recipient is Kingsway Probus Fees to pay the Annual Dues of $85.00 per person.

The CONTACT METHOD should be by Email Address ONLY.  Do NOT complete a Mobile Number.

The Email Address to pay the Annual Dues is fees.kingswayprobus@gmail.com   The Email Address can be copied from this webpage and pasted onto the banking on-line screen.

3 All payments sent to the Probus Club of Kingsway-Islington are deposited automatically using INTERAC e-Transfer Autodeposit.

To make a payment from a RBC account, you then complete the Quick Payments and Transfer Screen.  You indicate that it is an INTERAC e-Transfer, and select the Payee as Kingsway Probus Fees, insert the amount being paid, fill in the message field and select your bank account from which the amount will be taken.

For payment of annual fees, identify the transaction as Membership fees and include the full names of all of the people whose annual dues are being paid in the Message field.

4. We know of one small financial institution where you can not both send and receive INTERAC e-Transfers using the Autodeposit option.  If you are encountering problems sending your payment by e-Transfer we suggest you send a cheque.

5. If you do not use the Email Address above, your payment will not reach our Probus bank account.  You will have to contact your bank to recover the funds from INTERAC.  After 30 days, if you have used the wrong Email Address, INTERAC will automatically return the funds to your bank account.

6. If you have not already done so, register for INTERAC e-Transfer Autodeposit.   This is the most secure way to receive an e-Transfer. To read more about the importance of using Autodeposit, click on the link below:

CIBC Procedures

This presentation addresses how to pay Membership Fees with Interac e-Transfer using the CIBC website, including the procedures used when you are asked to verify your identity by CIBC. If you use the same device (laptop, iPad or tablet, for example) that you normally would use to do your banking, you may not be asked to verify that you are the owner of the account. Likewise, if you use the CIBC Banking app on an iPad, tablet or smart phone, the procedures will not be as complex. To review these procedures for CIBC, click on the download button to see the step-by-step presentation in full screen mode. Please note that in this example, membership fees are shown as $75.00, but for 2023-2024 this amount will be $85.00.
