Our Games Club plays with fun in mind. The table playing Quirkle usually is more competitive while the members on the other table usually play Dominoes to have a good time while engaging in light conversation. It always works out well.
Our last meeting of the Games Club was on on Tuesday, November 18th with 10 people attending.
About the Games Club
The Games Club was set up so that members could get together to socialize, have some fun while playing games of their choice, relaxing over a cup of tea or coffee while enjoying some treats. The members take turns once a year in bringing cookies, cakes, fruit or other sweets.
The group that formed initially became avid Dominoes players, but this is changing with members now playing other games such as Rummikub, Qwirkle, Dominoes, Phase 10, Cribbage, or Uno.
Many other games are available at Tim and Maggie’s on request should the members wish to continue to expand their horizons.
Benefits of belonging to the Games Club
The main benefit of belonging to the Games Club is that it allows our members to get to know each other better, to have some fun, to share their stories, and to make some new friends in a comfortable environment. There are no costs as Tim and Maggie contribute the coffee and tea, while members take turns supplying treats of their choice.
Games help to keep participants thinking through friendly competition and lively conversation. This provides a rare opportunity to play games with other friendly Probus members in a relaxing environment.
When you first join the group, you have the opportunity to learn new board and card games in a non-threatening environment. Playing games allows participants to improve their memory, decision making, strategy formation and problem-solving abilities.
Upcoming Meetings
Going forward, games of Dominoes, Rummikub, Uno, Phase 10 or Qwirkle will be held on the third Tuesday of every month all year long, usually at 2:00 p.m. at Tim and Maggie’s home.
Our Members
There are over 15 members in the Games Club with a dozen or so usually showing up for a meeting. The Games Club is open to all members of our Probus Club, provided that they have signed the club’s waiver.
