Benefits of Belonging to Wine Tasting
When we meet in person at their houses, condominium or apartments of our members, the Wine Tasting group allows its members to try a sample of four different wines along with a variety of appetizers selected by the host. The cost of each meeting is $15.00 per person, and these funds are used to reimburse the host for the wine and the appetizers that were purchased on behalf of the group.
Belonging to the Wine Tasting group is fun activity that allows friendships to develop and its members to enjoy themselves at social gatherings. It also provides its members with a great opportunity to explore and taste many different wines from around the world and to identify ones that are good value, and ones that you really enjoy. It also all its members to learn how to appreciate the different qualities of wine and their pairing with different foods.
From May 2020 to June 2022, the Wine Tasting Club met using Zoom. This caused a change in the format of the meetings. Each member selected a wine that they want to spotlight during that meeting along with his or her favourite snacks.
Upcoming Meetings
Upcoming meetings are now being held in person since members feel safe in meeting as a group in people’s homes. All meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month.
Our Members
Membership in the Club is limited to 14. There are a number of couples who belong to the club as well as individual wine lovers. A common trait among the members is that they all love wine, are very social people and are willing to invite people into their homes. The members are very interesting and love food and travel. Many of the members have been on the Club’s Executive and so are strong supporters of Probus. This makes for interesting conversation for the 2 to 3 hours when we meet every month. The Coordinators for the Wine Tasting group are Pat and Murray Wood who can be contacted at 416-239-9545 if you wish to join us.
