The Pickleball Club has found a new Co-ordinator, Keith Grattan.

Pickleball can’t start until the first quarter of 2026 as Cloverdale has confirmed that there is nothing available this quarter ending in December.

Our Pickleball Club is on the list for 2 courts starting in January, but Cloverdale has not yet finalized the schedule. We are hoping for the same day and time.

Keith’s plan is to follow up with Cloverdale again by the end of November when they hope to have Q1 of 2026 finalized.

Keith will be sending an email out to the group that generally played last year as he wants to get an idea of times, to see if we have any flexibility. As well, he will be sending another email to the larger list that Dennis used previously.

Please contact Keith at keithgrattan1@gmail.com to participate in Pickleball.

The Winter 2025 Pickleball Session

The winter session of our Pickleball Club ended on March 26th. The Club had two courts for the 10 people who signed up, though holiday trips to the sunny south meant we had fewer people show up each week. But it was always fun. This is the group for the final session.

What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a tennis-like game played on a badminton-sized court, 20’ wide by 44’ long, using paddles and a 3” whiffle ball, which is a light plastic ball with big holes in it.  It is typically played as doubles and has become widely popular for seniors in snowbird locations.

A brief description of the rules of the game are available if you:

Benefits of belonging to the Pickleball Club

Pickleball is a low-impact sport that’s easy on the joints. It is a social activity which increases the camaraderie among our members and provides an opportunity to make new friends with a similar interest in a sporting environment. The sport is a fun workout that improves fitness, and it meets a wide variety of physical and emotional needs. For example, playing pickleball on a regular basis boosts cardiovascular health which can reduce the risk of heart disease. It is not only beneficial to the heart in itself, but it can also reduce blood pressure and combat heart issues. Overall, it allows you get some exercise, lose weight, improve your flexibility and balance, and to improve your overall health.

Pickleball is also a way of exercising the brain and boosting the link between the mind and body. This can assist with memory and cognitive function because it prompts players to learn, remember, anticipate, react, and plan.

By belonging to this Club, you will be able to improve your game in a non threatening environment, as most players are new to the game
