Afternoon Café

The first Tuesday of the month is the meeting day for the Afternoon Café. We continue to meet at Java Joe’s in the Thorncrest Plaza at 1500 Islington Avenue, with all its conveniences.

The Afternoon Café will meet next on Tuesday, December  2^nd at 3:00 p.m. at Java Joe’s. Members can socialize for an hour or two with tea or coffee and treats and get caught up with fellow attendees. Contact Jennifer Roberts at jennifer.roberts@sympatico.ca to attend this lively and fun group.

Meetings in 2025

Ten people met at the Afternoon Café on Tuesday, November  4^th at Java Joe’s.

The Afternoon Café meet on Tuesday, October 7^th at 3:00 p.m. at Java Joe’s with 9 people attending.

The Afternoon Café met on Tuesday, September 2^nd at 3:00 p.m. at Java Joe’s with 8 people attending.

The Afternoon Café met on Tuesday, August 5^th at Java Joe’s with 8 people attending. It did not meet on July 1^st due to the Canada Day holiday.

The Afternoon Café continues to have very successfully meetings in 2025 with 13 people attending in January, 11 people attending in February, 9 people attending in March, 12 people attending in April, 14 people attending in May and 9 people attending in June. This group continues to attract new members.

Meetings in 2024

On Tuesday, December 3^rd, the Afternoon Café met again at Java Joe’s with 12 people attending, despite the holiday season.

The Afternoon Café had another very successfully meeting on November 5^th with 14 attending. While there is a core membership in the group, the participants for this meeting were again different than in October.

The Afternoon Café had a very successfully meeting in October with 15 attending, despite several regular members being away on vacation or at their cottage.

On Tuesday, September 3^rd, the Afternoon Café had its first meeting of the Fall Season with 14 people having a good time. 

The Afternoon Café had a very successfully meeting on Tuesday, August 6^th with 18 people attending. See the Gallery section below for photos of the August 6^th Afternoon Café.

On Tuesday, July 2^nd there were 14 people attending.  As usual we met at Java Joe’s. Everyone enjoyed the get together as participants stayed for two hours before going home.

On Tuesday, June 4^th, nineteen Probus Members met at Java Joe’s (at the corner of Islington and Rathburn) for coffee, tea and perhaps a sweet treat. This continues to be one of our Probus Club’s most popular activities. We were joined by new members or other members of the Afternoon Cafe group who weren’t at the last meeting. However, the conversation remained interesting, and there was the usual chatter and laughter, with everyone enjoyed the get together.

About the Afternoon Café

Everyone is invited to the Afternoon Cafe, especially new members who have joined in the last two years, as we’d love to meet you. Get to know some “old” members in a small group setting.

There is plenty of parking at Java Joe’s, and the TTC stops there. The washrooms are on the ground floor.  The coffee is good and so are the pastries.

Our get togethers are relaxing with lots of laughter and conversation.

Benefits of belonging to the Afternoon Café

The Afternoon Café provides an excellent opportunity to have a coffee or tea and your favourite snacks while enjoying interesting conversation with other Probus members. This environment allows members to share time with other Probus members and to make new friends.

All members pay for their own food and drink and the amount of a tip is at their discretion.
