This 341 page, historical fiction novel is the story of the Perez family who fled from Cuba to south Florida in 1959 when Fidel Castro took over their country. Beatrice Perez, the heroine, is committed to reclaiming her own country, and her story is one of bravery, espionage, and romance.
This is a story of part spy, part romance and part politics. The characters each play a role in three parts of the world ranging from Cuba, USA, and Europe. Readers become drawn into the very turbulent Cuban – American history of the 1960s, and at the same time the glamorous Cuban – exile community in Palm Beach, Florida. This novel has been described as a “masterful tale of political intrigue”.
The author Chanel Cleeton is originally from Florida and grew up hearing about stories of her family’s exile from Cuba.
