At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy built a large real estate empire, became wealthy and purchased “The Dutch House” which was the start of the family demise.
Over 5 generations and 5 decades, we followed the story of immense sibling love and loyalty between Maeve and her brother Danny. They lost parents, home, past and life of comfort.
A story of paradise lost and a question of inheritance, the extent and strength of love, forgiveness and revenge. A mixture of many characters who all worked or lived in the house and how their lives were all affected by this interaction.
The book had mixed reviews. I believe it made you think and wonder of the role you play in peoples lives, especially your family.
This book is available as an Audiobook narrated by Tom Hanks.
